Chai (meaning "spiced tea") is a borrowing into English from Arabic or Russian, but originated in China as 茶 (or chá, in pinying). meaning "tea". "Cafe" as a coffee house, was borrowed into English from French, based on Italian "caffe" for the drink, which was borrowed from Turkish or Arabic.
